Announcing the P150 Advisory Group
P150 members are the bedrock of this community. Since P150’s inception, your feedback, participation, and collaboration has shaped and grown the platform into what it is today.
2024 marks an exciting new chapter for P150 as we transition from a start-up experiment into an entity that can endure in its mission: to move more money, more impactfully, towards efforts that can change the world.
As part of this new chapter, we are excited to launch the P150 Advisory Group!
Goal and purpose
The goal of the P150 Advisory Group is to serve as a voice for P150 members, engaging with the P150 team to provide feedback, support, and input on P150’s priorities and activities.
The Advisory Group will engage across four key facets of P150:
Membership. How do we diversify membership and include even more key perspectives, in particular advisors of color and advisors based outside of North America?
Equity and Belonging. How do we define and refine our approach to equity and belonging within P150, ensuring all members find a home here?
Programs and Innovation. How does the P150 platform test new tools, events, or activities to better support its members to move more money, more impactfully?
Sustainability. How do we build the team, financial resources, and partnerships necessary to ensure P150 meets its mission?
Structure and member criteria
The P150 Advisory Group will comprise 10-12 member representatives, with a focus on diversity of:
Perspective. With consideration of the numerous philanthropy advisory archetypes (single shingle, field builder, etc.) and philanthropy advisory approaches.
Geography. With consideration to ensure global representation.
Identity. With consideration to ensure representation across race, ethnicity, gender, age, and ability.
Experience. With consideration of tenure as a philanthropy advisor, as well as experience in other sectors and roles with direct relevance for P150’s mission.
Time commitment and term limits
We understand that our members lead incredibly full lives, and we respect the value of their time - the most precious resource! We are therefore committed to providing clear expectations regarding the time and effort required for Advisory Group members.
In addition to a maximum of 4 meetings per year, Advisory Group members may also be asked to provide written feedback, read and review materials, and/or communicate with fellow or prospective members. Altogether, members will be asked to dedicate approximately 2-3 hours per month to Advisory Group activities.
Meetings will be scheduled with at least 1.5 months advance notice, with consideration of diverse time zones and scheduling constraints of our members.
Members will also be asked to commit to a 1 or 2-year term limit, with the acknowledgement that changing personal or professional circumstances may necessitate adjustments to this commitment.
We plan to host the first full Advisory Group meeting in late April/early May 2024.
