P150 is a collaborative of the world’s top philanthropy advisors who collaborate to move more money, more impactfully, towards efforts that can change the world.

Why We Exist

Philanthropy has never mattered more.

The leaders and organizations tackling our greatest global challenges — from mitigating climate change to protecting democracy — need dramatically more resources to meet the moment. With ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) holding over $50 trillion in wealth as of 2024, the opportunity to unlock bold, transformative giving is ripe.

But deploying that capital effectively is far from simple.

Donors face a range of barriers:

  • The need for trusted expertise to ensure their giving is high-impact

  • Structural complexity in choosing the right vehicles and pathways

  • Internal dynamics — from navigating family interests to managing public visibility

More and more, they are turning to philanthropy advisors — trusted partners who help guide strategy, source opportunities, and bring focus and intentionality to their giving.

These advisors hold immense potential for impact. Yet too often, they are operating in silos:

  • Lacking access to relevant peers or issue-area experts

  • Struggling to source high-quality opportunities beyond their own networks

  • Unable to coordinate efforts across the broader field of philanthropy

That’s where P150 comes in.

We exist to be the home and catalyst for this growing field of philanthropy advisors — a place where connection, collaboration, and shared problem-solving translate into more money moved, more impactfully, toward the world’s most urgent needs.

“We are living in an age where we can no longer afford to work in silos — across issues, segments of philanthropy, and as advisors. P150 is a central hub for advisors to learn, share, and problem solve together. This is a vibrant and necessary community for meeting this moment of enormous challenge and opportunity.”

Our Story

Our story began in 2021, over dinner.

A group of philanthropy advisors gathered to reflect on their work — the challenges, the isolation, and the shared feeling that more could be accomplished if they had a space to collaborate. That single dinner sparked a series of conversations with over 100 advisors, all echoing the same message: the work is lonely, the stakes are high, and the silos are holding us back.

So we started small — a simple pilot.

The idea: find fellow advisors and get in the same “room.” First that meant a Google Group. Then, a gathering in NYC. The name P150 emerged, with P standing for Philanthropy and 150 being both an aspiration (what if we could find 150 of us out there?) and a nod to Dunbar’s number (the belief that humans can hold roughly 150 meaningful relationships at a time).

The power of that first year still anchors us:
A palpable sense of belonging with people who get you.
Low-ego collaboration across wildly diverse experiences and perspectives.
A shared commitment to action — not just conversation.

Three years later, we are more than 430 strong, with expanded reach and deeper programming. But we’re still guided by the spirit of that first dinner — looking around the table and asking …

“What’s possible together?”

Who We Are

To keep this a vibrant and high-impact network, we intentionally select members based on the role they play in philanthropy and their eagerness/ability to honor the member commitments.

In terms of roles, we are comprised of philanthropy leaders who fall into three categories:

Direct Advisors to UHNWIs (single or multiple)
They directly advise client(s) who deploy more than $5M/year in philanthropic giving. This includes helping them to source, evaluate, or recommend philanthropic funding opportunities.  Most of their clients operate at a national or global scale, rather than focusing only on local giving.

Lean Foundation Leaders
They work for or lead a foundation with fewer than 10 employees, deploying at least $5M per employee per year. The foundation gives directly to grantees (rather than primarily serving as an intermediary).

Field Builders
They are a program officer or funder supporting the ecosystem of philanthropy advising — such as running or investing in communities, tools, or infrastructure that advance the field.
